Since all our companions don’t automatically know every move, TMs are a life-saver. They easily teach compatible companions specific moves, giving them an edge in battle. With Drill Run, there are only two Pokémon that learn it by leveling up. From there, only a handful can learn it from TM. Even so, we’ll help you get TM106 Drill Run so you can give your companion that extra edge in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Drill Run is a Ground-type move that sees the Pokémon slam into an opponent much like a drill. It gives an increased chance of landing a critical hit, so it’s useful if things get tough in battle.

However, as we mentioned, only two Pokémon ever learn the move naturally: Dunsparce (level 24) and Dudunsparce (level 24).

For the few companions that can learn Drill Run through TM, you need TM106, and there are a couple of places in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to look.

First of all, if you just want to unlock access to TM106 at a Pokémon Center, then you can simply defeat Team Star Fairy Crew. Doing so will add Drill Run to your list of craftable TMs.

Of course, you can also check out in the Overworld and grab the TM without crafting it. TM106 Drill Run is found in the following areas in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:

  • Location 1: Levincia: North of the area near the terrain close to the river.
  • Location 2: Dalizapa: On a rocky area overlooking the Pokémon Center.

There are quite a few materials needed if you want to craft TM106 for different companions. Check out the recipe below:

  • 8000 LP
  • x5 Pineco Husk
  • x3 Dunsparce Scales
  • x3 Arrokuda Scales

Pineco Husk comes courtesy of Pineco and Forretress. Head to the areas below to find them:

  • Casseroya Lake
  • Tagtree Thicket
  • East Province (Areas One, Two)
  • South Province (Areas Three, Four)
  • West Province (Area Three)

For Dunsparce Scales, battle Dunsparce or Dudunsparce. However, you may only locate Dunsparce in these areas:

  • The Great Crater of Paldea
  • South Province (Area Four)

Finally, Arrokuda Scales are needed to craft TM106 Drill Run. They come from Arrokuda and Barraskewda found in these regions:

  • East Paldean Sea
  • Glaseado Mountain
  • North Paldean Sea
  • West Paldean Sea
  • East Province (Areas One-Three)
  • North Province (Areas One, Three)
  • South Province (Areas One-Six)
  • West Province (Areas One-Three)

So, start tracking down those Pokémon so you can get the materials needed for TM106 Drill Run.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is available on Nintendo Switch.
