Out of 40 Achievements that you can get in DREDGE, 14 are Secret Achievements. Unlike the simpler ones, like catching all kinds of fish or researching all equipment, these Secret Achievements are quite tough to complete since you don’t know the prerequisite until it’s unlocked. Well, it turns out you’ll need the Banish Ability first before you can get the Banisher Achievement/Trophy, and this DREDGE guide will help you obtain both of them.

Get the Banish Ability in DREDGE Explained

In order to obtain the Banish Ability, the third Ability you get in the game, you have to complete the Stellar Basin Pursuit and locate the third Relic. You need to help the Research Assistant by catching Aurora Jellyfish, Firefly Squid, and Glowing Octopus, fixing the Repulsion Machine, and heading into the middle part of Stellar Basin to obtain the Ring Relic for The Collector.

Once you’ve given the Collector the Relic, he’ll give you the Banish Ability, which can be used from the Ability Wheel. When used, any fish in the dark and Birds in the Mellows trying to steal your fish will avoid your Boat for a short time.

DREDGE – How to Get the Banisher Achievement/Trophy

The Banisher Achievement in DREDGE tasks you with Banishing 10 Threats. Creatures will only count as “Threats” when they’re the kinds that will attack your Boat. It’s recommended that you wait until night and then run into one of the Whisper Mists to get Insane. Afterward, simply Banish whatever is about to hit your Boat.

Identifying Banishable Threats

As mentioned before, Threats are fish that can and will pose a threat to your Boat. These include:

  • Angler Fish
  • Red Jellyfish
  • Piranhas
  • And Mind Suckers

Static “Boss Threats” that guard each area — the creature in Stellar Basin, the Kraken of Coastal Basin, Devil’s Spine’s Unseeing Mother, and One-Eyed Serpent in Gale Cliff — and the Tentacles that appear when you’re Panicked can be Banished and works on the Achievement as well.

If you’re wondering whether you need Banish 10 different types of Threats or not, the Achievement should unlock even if you Banish the same fish repeatedly. With that in mind, you can grind the Banisher Achievement in DREDGE by Banishing some fish, heading back to the Dock, waiting for the night again, and then going back to the sea and Banishing the same creatures. If the Achievement is still not unlocked, you might want to try doing this in each area.
