If you had a Sega Mega Drive (Genesis if you lived outside the UK) back during the early Nineties, you know that Sega once reliably produced great games. Sega has released classics collections of their Genesis hits across multiple consoles and platforms but now, Sega’s glory days are set to hit Steam, with the Sega Mega Drive Classics Hub.

Mega Drive Classics
The days when two dimensions were all you needed.

Sega’s classic back catalogue has been on Steam for a while; what the Classics Hub brings to the table is far more exciting. First of all (and less excitingly) the Hub acts as a ‘container app’ gathering all your purchased Genesis games together and streamlining your collection.

What is even more exciting is that the Classics Hub will introduce Steam workshop support for Mega Drive Classics Games on Steam. According to PC Gamer;

“The hub will be free to anyone who already owns a Mega Drive game on Steam, and launches on April 28.ย More interesting is that the hub will usher in Steam Workshop support for all Mega Drive classics, which, in Sega’s own words, allows users “to share modified versions of your favourite retro SEGA titles”

The exact details of this have yet to be revealed but it looks like Sega is throwing its hat in with the modding community.
