The time has come for Guardians to prepare themselves for the imminent release date of Destiny 2 Season 21 this month. Season 20 is coming to a close very soon. When it does, Season 21, otherwise known as “Season of the Deep,” will begin. Season of the Deep has set some high expectations with the playerbase. This strong anticipation stems including an awesome new teaser, along with recent announcements of upcoming buffs and nerfs to certain weapons and Exotic Armor. With that in mind, it’s time to discuss what we know of it so far about the Destiny 2 Season 21 release date.
What Are the Season of the Deep Start Date and Time?
Season 20 of Destiny 2 Lightfall is set to end in the next two weeks on Tuesday, May 23. Specifically, the game will go into maintenance around 12 pm EDT, and when it comes back online an hour later at 1 pm EDT, Season 21 will go live. Season 21 will stretch throughout the rest of the summer and will come to a close roughly around the end of August or the first week of September.
What We Know About Destiny 2 Season 21 So Far
Throughout Season 20, many leaks have surfaced regarding Season of the Deep and how it will play out. These leaks appear to have been somewhat confirmed. The recent teaser showcases the return of the Titan Vendor and Commander Sloane. The teaser’s image also displayed the giant eye of what appears to be the mythical Leviathan creature from the deep seas of Titan.
This would be the first time players would get to return to Titan. If we recall, it was vaulted back in late 2020 with the arrival of the Beyond Light DLC, outside of PvP maps. It’s hard to say for sure how the story will play out this time. However, it’s clear the Taken will be heavily involved this season, as the teaser shows Commander Sloane’s hand being Taken. We also know a new Dungeon will go live, though its name or location has yet to be revealed.
Either way, Season 21 of Destiny 2 looks more enticing than Season 20, which wrapped up most of its story and content around the mid-way point, leaving the rest bare-bones.
