Move over, Kilton; Tears of the Kingdom has a new monster merchant in town we need to search for — Koltin. Tears of the Kingdom offers a whole new world waiting to be explored. From the sprawling plains of Hyrule to the dangerous depths of The Depths, every inch of this game’s world transports you to a land of adventure and mystery. You can spend hours getting lost in its intricate details and hidden secrets. One of them is Koltin, Tears of the Kingdom’s new monster merchant.
Who is Kotlin in Tears of the Kingdom?
Kotlin is a new monster gear merchant in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Gone are the days of trading monster parts to Kilton in exchange for Bokoblin masks. Now, you’ll need to farm Bubbul Gems for Koltin. But don’t worry; the colorful hot-air balloon is here to stay.
In pursuit of his dream to become a majestic Satori, Koltin will ask that you find Bubbul Gems, the snowflake-looking item that Bubbulfrogs drop when you kill them. If you bring him a few, he’ll give you masks and gear, much like Kilton did back in BOTW.
How to Unlock Koltin
Before you can purchase gear from Koltin, you must complete the A Hunt for Bubbulgems and The Search for Koltin in Tears of the Kingdom side quests. You can find the first one in Woodland Stable; which will trigger the second one immediately.
Tears of the Kingdom: The Search for Koltin
The fastest way to complete this quest is to find Koltin. Like his brother, he’ll spawn at a random location at night. But, except for the first time, his location will not be random.
First, follow the yellow marker on the map to reach Tarrey Town in the Akkala Highlands region. You can reach this section by taking the Hudson Company train. Once you spot Kilton, he’ll ask you to embark on a quest to speak to Koltin in Tears of the Kingdom.
You’ll spot Koltin’s Shop for the first time near the Ultri Mountain Skyview Tower in Akkala. If you want to make sure you grab some gear in this encounter, bring two Bubbul Gems along. He’ll give you a Blue Moblin mask in exchange.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on the Nintendo Switch.
