The latest Zelda games have a few systems that might be overwhelming for some playersโ€”beyond exploring, fighting, and building, managing your temperature is crucial if you want to survive the harsh lands of Hyrule. For that, many players tend to focus on keeping themselves warm when exploring certain areas of the map, yet, there is the other extreme of the temperature bar. Some areas will require you to be fresh if you don’t want to meet your demise just because of the weather. That is why today we’ve made a guide to tell you how to get heat resistance in Tears of the Kingdom.

There are two ways to get heat resistance in Tears of the Kingdom. The first and cheapest option is to cook. Many ingredients out there will provide protection and certain buffs, and one of those buffs is heat resistance. On the other hand, you have armor. While it might take a while to get it, this is more of a permanent solution that you should also consider. For now, let’s begin with the ingredients to make heat-resistant food:

  • Hydromelons
  • Chillshrooms
  • Chillfin Trout
  • Cool Safflina

These items are great if you want to keep yourself fresh while exploring the hot lands of Hyrule. We recommend you make many dishes with these ingredients to prevent yourself from dying while trekking around the map.

As mentioned, the best solution is to get heat-resistant armor in the game. Just like in its predecessor, there is an outfit that’ll let you stay cool while playing. You must travel to the Kara-Kara Bazaar and buy the Desert Voe Armor. This outfit is the best to keep Link cool while exploring, and it also looks great. If you don’t have enough Rupees, we recommend you start farming them as soon as possible to meet the price.

These are the best ways to get heat resistance in Tears of the Kingdom. If you don’t have a lot of Rupees, cooking is always a valid and fun option to keep yourself safe. While it is only a provisional solution, it is still great and much cheaper than the armor. Yet, if you have enough money, don’t be afraid to spend it to get the heat-resistant outfit in the game. If you don’t like the colors, remember that you can customize most outfits at Hateno Village.

Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
