The much-rumored PS4 Neo may be coming sooner than anticipated. A leak from a French retailer points to the new console releasing in September.
The Playstation 4 Neo is said to be a slightly more powerful version of the PS4 that can play games at a 4K resolution. As far as we know the console will just offer more powers to run games better, but developers are not allowed to make PS4 Neo games markedly better than their original PS4 counterparts.
Giant Bomb broke the original story, outlining the specs, features, and limitations of the hardware. Developers will also be held to several standards. Features must be exactly the same across original and Neo versions of the game. This will ensure that the PlayStation player base will not be split when the new machine makes its way onto the market.
Sony has yet to confirm the existence of the more powerful console, but all signs point to an official reveal at E3. If the September release date is to be believed, it will launch just before PS VR, which will likely give a boost to the virtual reality headset.m
The Neo is not the only new console that is rumored to release in the next year. There have been teases that Microsoft is working on a half step for the Xbox One while Nintendo will release the NX – their mysterious new console – next March.
