If you want to explore the Depths of Hyrule, knowing how to find and use Lightroots in Zelda’s Tears of the Kingdom will be mandatory. In the Depths, there are many caverns, mines, and chasms that you will want to discover. You will indeed find several enemies and obstacles throughout the game in these terrains, but unlocking the map and giving light to these terrifying passages will be at the top of your priorities list. Throughout the underground map, you will find Lightroots, which come from the roots of the trees on the surface.

These impressive roots originating from Hyrule’s depths can easily catch your eye. To effortlessly discover Lightroots in Tears of the Kingdom, harness the surface’s luminosity to your advantage. Begin by locating any vividly red spaces on your surface map, indicating Chasms. Once found, plunge into these Chasms, descending into the Depths. As you land, behold a Lightroot eagerly awaiting your arrival. To ensure you never lose track of these radiant wonders, use your scope by pressing the right analog stick and marking their location with a pin.

How to use Lightroots

To activate the Lightroots, you must get up close and personal with each of them. Upon reaching the designated area, look for a spiral of sand on the ground. Then, head toward it and contact the Lightroot.

Instantly, the surrounding area will be illuminated, unveiling previously inaccessible sections of the darkened depths on your map. Not only does this bright display illuminate your path, but it also has the remarkable ability to counteract the effects of the Gloom. Also, once these Lightroots in Tears of the Kingdom are activated, you can teleport to each one whenever you desire.

The Abandoned Great Central Mine is a pivotal location that requires unlocking and illumination. Furthermore, it is a hub for numerous main and secondary quests, making it an indispensable area to conquer to progress in the game.

If you haven’t activated all Lightroots in Tears of the Kingdom and need some extra help to navigate the depths of Hyrule, you’ve got other options. There are various outfits are available to light your path. First, consider equipping the Miner’s outfit, designed to aid underground exploration. Alternatively, the Tunic of the Deep is an anti-Gloom outfit that offers protection against the encroaching darkness. Additionally, utilizing Brightbloom Seeds can also provide illuminating benefits.

Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
