As we said, to accept the A New Champion’s Tunic side quest, you must travel southeast of Hyrule to Hateno Village and find Zelda’s notes. Go to the southwesternmost point of the village and enter the small house behind Firly Pond. Go up to the second floor and read Zelda’s Journal. Next, go around the house on the right side and jump down into Zelda’s Secret Well. You can read Zelda’s Diary and accept the A New Champion’s Tunic side quest on a small wooden platform.

After reading the diary, you will learn about a secret chest hidden in Hyrule Castle. To complete A New Champion’s Tunic side quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, travel to Hyrule Castle and find the secret chest. Here’s how to do it.

  • Accepting the quest, fast travel to Lookout Landing Skyview Tower to get as close to Hyrule Castle as possible.
  • Next, immediately use the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower to fly into the air and fly north towards the castle.
  • After reaching the right place, plan down and enter through the large door on the south castle side.

  • Enter the Sanctum room and go up the stairs to the throne. Use your arrows and Fire Fruit to light the torches in the throne front.
  • By doing this, the stone eagle statue will move to the side and open access to a secret chest.
  • Open the chest, and you will receive Champion’s Leathers with base Defense 5 and complete A New Champion’s Tunic side quest.
