After rumors have swirled around for weeks, Horizon Zero Dawn was officially delayed to February 28, 2017, today.
The newest title from Guerilla Games, makers of the Killzone franchise, was first revealed almost a year ago at Sony’s 2015 E3 press conference. The reason given for the delay was that the team wants to ensure that the game lives up to the expectations it set with its memorable reveal.
But on the bright side, Sony did release a new trailer for Horizon Zero Dawn to tide us over until 2017. The new footage sheds more light on Aloy – the mysterious red-headed girl who is the star of the game. Horizon is set in a world that has returned to the stone age thousands of years after the collapse of a technologically advanced civilization. Strange robotic animals roam the wilderness, but Aloy finds out that there is a secret to why the world is like this. She is labeled an outcast and must fight against other humans as well as hordes of mechanical beasts to survive.
Shortly after the trailer launched a collectors edition also made its way online. It will come with a beautiful statue of Aloy, an art book for the game and in-game skins, as well. The bundle is priced at $120 on amazon.com.
Horizon Zero Dawn is touted as an action RPG. While we haven’t seen many of the RPG aspects in action yet, gameplay that was shown last year promised numerous ways to tackle each scenario and a full arsenal of weapons and tools to dispatch enemies with.
Horizon Zero Dawn continues to look stunning, and while the delay is saddening, hopefully, we will see more at E3 next week.
