Sterling Archer – the world’s best super spy – may be moving to the silver screen.
Show producers Matt Thompson and Casey Willis spoke to The Daily Beast about the possibility of a live-action movie for the suave secret agent. They said that the decision of making a film ultimately falls on the show’s creator, Adam Reed, but it has come up before.
The real question that often arises is whether or not the movie would stick to its cartoon roots or enlist live actors to bring the characters to life. While the movie itself is still up in the air, the creators did share who they would want to portray the world’s most ridiculous spy.
Jon Hamm is on the short list to play Sterling Archer in a feature length film, which seems like a fitting choice. Not only does the actor look like the character, but he has proven that he can excel in comedic roles as well.
The show began airing in 2010 and just entered into its seventh season at the end of March. The show follows debaucherous spy Sterling Archer and his associate’s adventures at his mother’s spy agency. It blends fantastic animation with witty dialogue, superbly realized characters and fun action.
If you ask us, the premise of the show would transfer well to the big screen, and has the making for a stellar R-rated action-comedy.
