In this article, we will provide you with a list of the top 7 best abilities to unlock first in Final Fantasy 16. There are a lot of abilities in the game and it can be difficult to choose the best ones. Although most of them are quite interesting and useful, some should be unlocked as soon as you have the opportunity. Such abilities are mostly very important for keeping combos active or are simply stronger than others, so it is important to spend points as efficiently as possible.

Best Abilities to Unlock in Final Fantasy 16

Not all of them are as strong as they may seem at first. Although most of the abilities on our list are available early in the game, some of them are quite expensive, so we recommend that you save your ability points for them.

Swift Recovery

Swift Recovery is one of the simplest but most useful abilities in FF16. Often you will fight with large enemies who will knock you down with their heavy attacks, making you vulnerable until you get up. It takes some time to get up, during which you will not be able to fight and will quickly lose the advantage in battle. This ability will allow you to quickly get back on your feet and continue the fight, which will help you to avoid excessive damage.

Burning Blade

Burning Blade is an ability that will spend a little of your points but can greatly strengthen your blade by setting it on fire. At the same time, it is pretty balanced. So, you need to spend time charging up your attack to use Burning Blade. This makes it not very useful during dynamic combat, but it can be charged before the start of the fight to gain an advantage.

Flames of Rebirth

Flames of Rebirth costs quite a lot of points, but as soon as it becomes available to you, it’s worth unlocking it. This ability is one of the few that can damage and also heal Clive, which can save you more than once in a battle. You will deal a lot of damage to the enemies around you and also restore a certain amount of HP, which will be displayed in faint green on the life bar. But do not rely only on Flames of Rebirth as its cooldown is quite long, so it is better to have other abilities in reserve.

Heatwave

Heatwave is one of the best abilities you can get, but to unlock it you will need to play at least a few hours. This ability releases a heat wave in a large radius so it can even be used as a ranged attack. You can deal damage to several enemies at once while penetrating their armor, and in combination with a large radius, this ability becomes deadly for large groups of enemies. In addition, when you use this ability to block enemy projectiles, the number of subsequent shock waves will increase and the Heatwave cooldown will be reduced by 33%.

Stomp

Stomp is a very useful ability that should be one of the first to unlock. With it, you can avoid ground attacks by jumping. However, the main purpose of Stomp is to jump away from the enemy, which will increase the strength and height of the jump, after which you can make various combos, for example, use this ability together with Downthrust.

Downthrust

Downthrust is an air attack that should be one of the first to unlock, at least because it costs very little. It can parry enemy attacks if timed correctly and is also used for air combos. When you are in the air and use Downthrust, you will quickly reduce the distance with the enemy and deal a lot of damage.

Lunge

Lunge is another useful ability that you can unlock quite quickly and for a cheap price. The mechanics of this ability are similar to Downthrust, but it is performed on the ground. Lunge allows you to quickly shorten the distance with the enemy and deal damage, and this ability is great for keeping a streak of combos going.
