HoYoverse hinted at a new character during the Genshin Impact Version 3.8 Special Program livestream known only as Melusine, raising many questions. The 3.8 Special Program showcased new features and content coming to Genshin Impact. The video ends by teasing a new character who resides in Fontaine, the Nation of Justice in Genshin Impact. Since it was just a tease, not much is known about Melusine or what role she will have in the game. However, based on the narration and video, we have some ideas.
What We Know About Melusine in Genshin Impact
Melusine is not human in Genshin Impact. She’s a short creature with pink fur, purple hair, rabbit-like ears, and mitten-like hands. She wears a blue uniform, something akin to a police outfit. She also has a fury tail and small wings.
The narrator calls Melusine “upstanding” and “diligent” with her duties. The narrator does clarify that the creature is female, referring to her with woman pronouns. She patrols Fleuve Cendre and has a strong sense of justice.
Melusine is highly suspicious of unknown outsiders and spies on their every move. She strolls across the city with a sweet smile, suggesting a carefree and childlike behavior. However, the narrator warns viewers not to underestimate her. She may be small, yet she has a diligent sense of justice and is fearless.
What Is a Melusine in Genshin Impact?
The Genshin Impact Version 3.8 Special Program video didn’t clarify if Melusine is the name of the small pink creature or if that’s the name of her species.
The narrator refers to the character as “a little, upstand Melusine.” The word “a” hints that the character is part of a group of Melusine. The narrator also refers to the character’s height as Melusine’s size, implying Melusine is a measurement.
The Version 3.8 Special Program also revealed new concept art for future content of the game plus gave players an early look at Fontaine in Genshin Impact. The live stream also shared new codes that reward players with extra Primogems and new items.
If players redeem all the new Primogem Codes from the 3.8 Special Program, they can earn up to 300 Primogems. Primogems are the premium currency that replenishes Original Resin, buys Acquaint and Intertwined Fate, and purchase Battle Passes. Version 3.8 will be the last one in the Sumeru region before the Hydro Nation’s release.
