How To Defeat the Hermit Crab in Dave The Diver
To beat the Hermit Crab in Dave The Diver, you will first have to complete the “Duff’s Dream” quest during Chapter 3. Then, Sato will talk about some strange whirlpools that take place during stormy nights. Wait for the night to come by and look for the whirlpool, which appears close to the surface. Once you head inside, you will encounter the Hermit Crab, with a dump truck on its back.
The first thing you will notice is that despite you using your best weapons to damage the Hermit Crab in any way possible, it will remain unscathed. Dave himself says at the beginning that you will have to use an alternate way to beat it. That alternate way is to wait for the Crab to attack you. Get close to the Crab and bait it. He will bury his pincers on the sand floor, which will then uncover barrels of explosives.
Pick these barrels and swim above the Hermit Crab. Drop them in the space between the Crab’s eyes and the Truck itself. Be sure to remain on the move, since the Crab will attack you will you attempt to drop the barrel. Moreover, since this battle happens in an enclosed location, be sure to not run out of space behind you.
Once you damage the Hermit Crab a couple of times, it will then use its pincers to protect its eyes. You will then have a smaller timeframe to hit the Crab with the barrels. Once you hit the Hermit Crab enough, the monster truck will drop and explode. This will leave the Crab defenseless, which will cause it to flee, successfully ending the boss battle.
Be sure to time your swimming and monitor your oxygen levels. There is nothing worse than to run out of air right before giving the final blow to the Hermit Crab in Dave The Diver. Beware of those pincers and use those barrels at your disposal and you will beat the Truck Hermit Crab in no time.
