Remnant 2 is the sequel to Gunfire Games’ surprise hit Remnant: From the Ashes, released in 2019. After some serious anticipation, their follow-up is here and bigger and better than ever before. For returning veterans familiar with the Root or new players looking to see what the fuss is about, we have prepared a nice selection of five things you should know before starting Remnant 2.

5 Things You Should Know in Remnant 2

Remnant 2 is a deep game with a mix of third-person action and a bevy of RPG elements. You may get lost the first time you end up at the hub, but these tips should help everything in the game make much more sense.

Pick the Right Archetype Class for You

Remnant 2 is an action RPG, and as you would expect from a game in this genre, you can select from a multitude of classes after completing the prologue. You can choose from different Archetypes (classes) with unique skills, perks, and Traits. You can choose these classes at the start of the game. The Gunslinger is a pre-order class, but if you didn’t pre-order, no worries. You can unlock it later in the game. In addition to the ones listed below, you can find mysterious hidden classes later in the campaign.

  1. Challenger – A tank class with great durability and designed for up-close fighting.
  2. Gunslinger – A ranged class designed for quickly putting out a lot of ranged damage.
  3. Handler – A pet class with a trusty dog. A great class for beginners to use.
  4. Hunter – A marksman who specializes in buffing the team with critical hit damage.
  5. Medic- The best support class in the game capable of group-wide healing.

Catch Up on Remnant: From the Ashes Story

The original Remnant is an excellent game and establishes the world and setting for the sequel. It has characters, settings, and concepts from the beginning, so you might be slightly confused if you jump into Remnant 2 without experiencing the original. We suggest looking up a story summary or diving into the previous game to familiarize yourself with the characters.

Campaigns Are Procedurally Generated

This is always a shocker for those unfamiliar with Remnant 2. Once you complete the prologue and visit Ward 13, your character will touch a Worldstone and get warped into a world. The world you get warped to, its layout, the enemies you fight, and even some of the stores you’ll encounter are procedurally generated out of a big selection of curated pieces Gunfire Games has created. If you join a co-op game or start a new save, don’t be surprised when things aren’t set the same way.

Money Is Hard To Come By

Scrap is the primary currency of Remnant 2, and it is used for everything in the game. Want to buy a new piece of gear? Scrap. Want to upgrade a weapon? Scrap. Want to make an offering at some random Blood Altar? Chances are, you will probably need some Scrap. Unlike Diablo or any other action RPG, Scrap is a very hard resource to hold on to, as just about everything requires it, and you can’t sell equipment for an easy buck. We advise playing Adventure Mode and farm worlds you’ve already beaten. If you fight a boss or collect an item you already own, you will be given a large amount of Scrap in its place. What’s Adventure Mode, you ask? Well, you’re in luck. It’s the last thing on this list.

Adventure Mode Is the Best Way to Level Up

Adventure Mode isn’t something you’ll have access to at the start of the game.
Once you beat your first world and visit the Labrinth, you can access Adventure Mode. This mode lets you generate a new version of a world you’ve beaten and run it on a separate save from your campaign but with the same character. This is a great way to run a world over and over again and see every possible version of it that exists. This is critical because bosses, vendors, and story events are randomized, so it’s impossible to earn every piece of loot or upgrade in one completion of a zone.

Now that you know five things that Remnant 2 doesn’t tell you, grab some friends or your pet dog and go on a rip-and-roaring time through time and space to take down the Root wherever you find it.
