Remnant 2 is a difficult game that throws several enemies at you. At some point, your starting equipment won’t deal as much damage and you struggle against tougher enemies. While getting better equipment is an obvious answer, that’s not always easy to do. Upgrading your weapons is another method to get stronger while making use of all the Iron you find. Getting weapon upgrades helps you keep up with enemies while better equipment is out of reach. It’s not difficult to do, but you will need materials. Here’s how you upgrade weapons in Remnant 2 and give yourself an advantage over your enemies.

You learn how to upgrade weapons shortly after you return to Ward 13. You met Rigler during the opening scenes, but it’s only after you return that he will upgrade your weapons. Speak to him and you can begin the upgrading process. As long as you have the required materials for the upgrades, you can make as many as you like. Currently equipped weapons will be highlighted first but you can freely upgrade whatever items you like. Make sure you are selecting the equipment you want to improve and confirm that the upgrades will go ahead.

Before the upgrade, you can see the damage increase and the required materials. That helps you keep track of the components necessary to strengthen your weapons. If you are missing any components, make a mental note and look for the areas that drop the materials. After you have enough, return to Rigler for the upgrades. It doesn’t cost any money; you just need the materials. Don’t expect a single weapon upgrade to start defeating enemies quickly; it’s just a quick damage boost. But multiple upgrades add up and enemies won’t be able to keep up.

Even as you acquire better equipment, you will need upgrades to help you survive against tougher odds. You won’t always have fantastic drops and sometimes you find the right weapon for your needs. Upgrading keeps that weapon relevant while you search for a better replacement. Even if you aren’t going to keep your initial weapons, it’s worth upgrading them to have an easier time in combat. There’s nothing worse than trying to fight stronger enemies with weak equipment.

Stay on top of your enemies by upgrading and getting more value out of your weapons. Once you find better equipment that’s undeniably better, scrap what you have and use it instead.
