The CW is broadening its horizons with another venture into live sports TV with the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Under a new deal between NASCAR and the CW, the Xfinity series will begin airing on the network in 2025 and run through the 2031 racing season. 33 races will be broadcast annually, and for the first time in NASCAR Xfinity history, every race will be available for free on broadcast television, with additional features available on the CW’s streaming platforms.
Surprisingly, the deal with NASCAR isn’t the CW’s first attempt at live sports television. Though many people may know the CW as the home of drama shows like Supernatural, Riverdale, or the DCTV lineup. The network began dipping its toes into the pool of major sports TV earlier this year. The six-episode docuseries 100 Days to Indy premiered in April, followed by deals with the LIV Golf League and the Atlantic Coast Conference, which gives the CW rights to air ACC college football and basketball games in the 2026-2027 season.
NASCAR Is ‘Thrilled” to Enter New Deal with CW
The deal with NASCAR Xfinity is a very important step in expanding the kind of content the CW is associated with moving forward, according to Dennis Miller, president of the CW.
“Landing the NASCAR Xfinity Series is a game changer for The CW and our CW Sports division and represents another important building block in our programming strategy,” Miller told Deadline. “Live sports are the most watched television content and with The CWโs national reach, moving NASCAR Xfinity Series to The CW will transform and elevate the viewing experience for the series and its fans.โ
Regarding NASCAR’s end of the deal, Special Vice President of Media and Productions Brian Herbst added that the company is “thrilled” to be partnering with the CW and have hope that the new deal with bring in more viewership for NASCAR and the CW.
“CWโs leadership shared a compelling vision for cultivating the next generation of NASCAR talent by bringing the NASCAR Xfinity Series exclusively to broadcast television… With more than one million viewers tuning in each week to see NASCARโs future stars battle some of its biggest names at our most legendary tracks, NASCAR Xfinity Series consistently delivers the moments that excite current fans and create new fans of our great sport.”
All NASCAR Xfinity series races will be produced by NASCAR Productions and the CW Network.
