Marvel Studios has released the official trailer for Loki season 2, which will see the God of Mischief scrambled in time following the aftermath of the debut season of his Disney Plus series. As we get further into the Multiverse Saga, we start to see some true multiverse madness as Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson (Mobius) go through time and space to fix the timeline after the death of He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors).
The trailer for Loki season 2 shows Mobius and the former villain going to a tech worker, Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once), who diagnoses Loki’s uncontrollable scrambling through time as “time slipping.” Without a known cure, they must go on the hunt to find a way to not only save themselves but the main timeline. They go to various places in different timelines, from a modern water ski dealership to Victorian-era cities. The returning cast of Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) and Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) can be seen in these time-hopping scenes. We get glimpses of Sylvie in an old-school McDonald’s uniform and B-15 in a 1930s dress. We also get a Kang (Majors) variant, Victor Timely, who looks ready to commit some serious villainous acts.
Loki Season 2 Trailer Arrives Ahead of October Premiere
From the brief look at the upcoming season, we can expect a lot to happen for our returning and new characters. Among the already listed returning cast members, we will also see the return of Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravona Renslayer, Eugene Cordero as Hunter K-5E, Neil Ellice as Hunter D-90, and Tara Strong as Miss Minute. New additions will include the Everything Everywhere star, Rafael Casal (Blindspotting), Kate Dickie (The Northman), and Liz Carr (Silent Witness).
The trailer for Loki season 2 gives us a glimpse into what the behind-the-scenes team has come up with for this latest adventure. Michael Waldron returns as the showrunner. Among the confirmed directors will be Justin Benson (Moon Knight) and Aaron Moorhead (Moon Knight). Waldron and Hiddleston executive produce with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Victoria Alonso.
Despite the release of the Loki season 2 trailer, there are some serious issues related to the show’s production. For one, its main antagonist, Majors, has had multiple abuse allegations toward him after an alleged assault. A report has come out from The New York Times that he was attacked first, further complicating the case. Marvel Studios has not responded to the allegations that have come forward, leaving the casting of its current Multiverse Saga villain up in the air.
The other major issue comes from streaming, one of the central problems that started the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike. Streaming services give little to no residuals to cast and crew, despite the incredible success of some of these hit shows, from Disney’s Star Wars and Marvel productions to Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black and Stranger Things. Other talking points for striking workers include the unethical use of AI to replace crew and not enough writers for the number of scheduled episodes.
Loki season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on October 6 with a six-episode season, each coming out once a week.
