In a recent Nelly Furtado interview, the 44-year-old singer expressed her desire to work with the beautiful Lipa. Furtado’s statement brought back memories of when the Albanian musician said something similar in 2018.

A Nelly Furtado and Dua Lipa collab has yet to happen, but fans could see it someday as both parties are willing to work with each other. On Thursday, the “Turn Off the Light” crooner had an interview with Elle, where she detailed her return to the music industry. During the Nelly Furtado interview, the interviewer asked the singer if she saw herself collaborating with new talents. In response to the question, Furtado mentioned Puerto Rican Rapper Bad Bunny, noting that his music was amazing. Next, she listed Lipa, saying:
“Dua Lipa seems very talented to me, I met her last summer and we have met several times, I feel like our voices would go very well together, sometimes I send her tracks.”
Shortly after the Nelly Furtado interview, Pop Crave took to their Twitter account with 1.4 million followers to get netizens’ reactions regarding Furtado’s words. One tweet shared that both women had similar sounds, given that they were pop stars. They also added: “They’re both mezzo-sopranos, with both leaning towards the opposite spectrum of their range in relation to each other.” Another user noted that the collab would work, adding that they wanted it badly. A third fan urged Furtado to make it work. They also advised the singer to add Justin Timberlake and Timbaland to the mix.
Dua Lipa Wants to Be Like Nelly Furtado
Nelly Furtado’s recent interview isn’t the first time she and Dua Lipa’s names are being said in the same sentence. During a 2018 interview with Glam Cult, Lipa revealed that she started listening to Furtado when she was six and wanted to be like her. When asked what she liked about the pop star, Lipa revealed it was her “bad b**ch attitude.” She said it made her want to identify herself with Furtado, as everything she wrote was true. Lipa said that was enough reason to begin studying Furtado’s work. Five years later, it is unknown if Lipa’s thoughts about her colleague have changed. Nevertheless, it will be great to see Nelly Furtado and Dua Lipa work on a song together.
