During his acceptance speech, Wayne first expressed gratitude to God, after which he thanked the icons the music industry had lost. Wayne also hailed his fans and the important people in his life, noting:
“This is for y’all, y’all as in my fans, y’all as in the people in the crowd, my supporters, those that work with me, those that work for me, those that work around me, those that work like me. This is for us.”
After his speech, Wayne took to the black carpet, where he was photographed with his Hall of Fame award. After Wayne accepted his induction, Nas took to the stage to receive his award. During his speech, the 49-year-old rapper noted that he didn’t get into hip hop music for the awards but for the art form. Overall, Nas said he felt honored to witness the genre at 50, after many years. Indeed, it was an emotional moment for the rappers – one that Lil Wayne and Nas’ daughters will always be proud of.
