What Are the Witch’s Keys in Destiny 2?
Several Destiny 2 seasons feature keys as a type of currency. Past seasons included the Defiant Key, Deep Dive Key, and the Salvage Key. You use these keys to unlock special chests. For example, the Defiant Keys open chests in the Defiant Battlegrounds playlist.
However, the Witch’s Key improves on the rewards you gain from looting chests at the end of the Altars of Summoning and Savathun’s Spire activity. The Witch’s Key works for both activities, meaning you won’t need a separate key for the two activities. Players don’t need to press anything to activate the Witch’s Key. The item automatically redeems at the end of each activity.
You will always gain some loot at the end of every activity. The Witch’s Key simply improves the type of loot you gain. Using the Witch’s Key will potentially reward you with more reputation for the Ritual Table, plus more offerings and Witch’s Engrams. You use Witch’s Engrams to craft and unlock new seasonal weapons like the new exotic weapons.
Players don’t need Witch’s Key to progress or understand Destiny 2’s story for Lightfall and The Final Shape. Witch’s Key is completely optional but good to collect to get better rewards at the end of seasonal activities.
