The release of the highly anticipated Bloorborne-inspired souls-like, Lies of P, is just around the corner, and as we approach the game’s release, more and more details about the game are coming to light. The latest rounds of news come straight from an interview with the director of Lies of P, who gave a ton of information about what players can expect in terms of the game’s story, specifically, the endings.

According to Ji-Won Choi, the endings of Lies of P depend upon the choices the player makes during their playthrough. While that by itself wouldn’t be that uncommon, the really interesting part is the implementation. Lies of P will include a unique Deception mechanic that will allow the game’s protagonist, Pinocchio, to deceive people. And that deception will dictate where the game’s story ends up.

Narrative Details For Lies of P – Endings & Story

In Lies of P, we take control of an animatronic called Pinocchio, and those who know the original fairy tale know that lying is a core part of his story. This Deception mechanic could add an interesting wrinkle in an otherwise familiar gameplay loop.

This does not mean that players will go around lying to NPCs because the aim of this isn’t to just mislead others but to make some people feel better. So, the player will have to pay attention to how the characters feel before deciding on what they should reply with.

Lies of P will have three different endings, and the direction of the story should become somewhat obvious once the player starts making certain decisions throughout the playthrough. Choi also hinted that the narrative routes aren’t too obvious from the start, so choices will play out near the end of the 30-hour-long campaign.

Since its announcements, Lies of P has gotten endless comparisons with Bloodborne as its clear inspiration. Where it sets itself apart should become more obvious once the game finally comes out next month on September 19 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
