Outposts help your characters relax, gather resources, and make repairs to your spacecraft. They are havens whenever you’re away from home. So, the strategic setup of your outposts is essential. We’ll break down some of our favorite planets to build outposts on so you can better decide how and where you want to make your mark throughout the universe.

Best Outpost Planets in Starfield

Exploration is a major factor in Starfield. You can soar various solar systems in your custom spacecraft, landing on numerous worlds and moons. But which Starfield planets work best as outposts? Andraphon – Best Starting Outpost Planet

Situated in the Narion system, Andraphon is a moon of the planet Sumati. It’s not known for being habitable. The moon has no atmosphere, fauna, or flora. What makes it one of the best planets for outposts in Starfield is how resource-heavy it is for your beginner’s needs. You can get to Andraphon early in the game, and it features resources necessary for building outposts in the first place.

Kreet – Best Versatile Planet

Located in the Narion system, Kreet is the planet Anselon’s moon. It’s one of the best planets for outposts in Starfield if you want versatility. It has a healthy dose of resources, fauna, flora, critters, and even a few locations to explore. This moon is ideal for finding upgrades for your weapons at the start of the game too. The atmosphere is also breathable, and it features a strong magnetosphere.

Jemison being one of the best planets for Starfield outposts is no surprise. Settled in the Alpha Centauri System, Jemison is home to New Atlantis. It’s a great starting point since it’s a hub for trade. You can buy and sell items here. Plus, the atmosphere is perfect for roaming outside your outpost without protection. Jemison has an abundance of flora and fauna for you to discover as well.

Also, it features a moderate amount of flora and fauna.

Leviathan IV in the Leviathan system isn’t easy. It’s a super-Earth that boasts deadly fauna and toxic gases. Despite the risks, it still makes for a great Starfield outpost planet thanks to the exotic minerals you can find. And their megafauna can grant you better upgrade resources for your weapons and armor.

Codos – Best for a Beautiful Destination

It never hurts to set up an outpost where the view is everything. You can get that on Codos in the Cheyenne System. Codos, a moon of Akila, has a comfortable, temperate setting. It’s tropical with gorgeous vegetation, stunning oceans and lakes, and pretty beaches. The atmosphere allows for a marginal amount of fauna and flora. Plus, it has some solid resources to glean.

Zamka is one of Olivas moons in the Alpha Centuri system. It’s a strong contender for the best outpost planet in Starfield thanks to the versatility of the valuable resources you can find. Resources are scattered throughout the moon, giving you ample places where you can set up outposts. There aren’t any hostile fauna to deal with either, but it does have a thin atmosphere and frozen temperatures.

You’ll find common resources alongside Tier 2 and 3 resources like Tetrafluorides and ytterbium. Maheo II is a worthwhile outpost planet location to farm much of what you’ll need throughout the game.

Dysprosium is an exotic resource not always easy to find in Starfield, but it’s vital for crafting potent gear, building structures, and even researching projects. Thankfully, the moon Voss in the Alpha Centauri System has plenty of Dysprosium, making it a helpful outpost planet location for farming. As a bonus, it also has a good supply of Tungsten. Keep in mind it has a thin atmosphere with a frozen temperature.

Starfield Outpost Location Tips

There are several factors you want to consider that can help you find the best outpost planet in Starfield. Resources are key, but where they are on a planet is important too. It helps to find a cluster of different resources to settle your outpost on. This lets you mine several types of resources without traveling too far on foot. Additionally, make sure that tools like your planet scanner are upgraded. It helps you detect resources with ease.

From there, focus on the atmosphere. If it’s pleasant, you can go on foot and work outside more easily without protection.

If you want to trade more, focus on planets with large hubs like Jemison. Otherwise, you can find a barren planet in terms of people, but it’s resource-heavy, which makes it perfect for those who need to stock up on minerals.  Don’t forget to look at the fauna.
