Like a lot of other farming sims, Stardew Valley is a game that places a lot of importance on crafting and cooking. Cooking, specifically, is a surprisingly big part of the RPG experience, as recipes allow players to turn their crops into meals. Meals in Stardew Valley can then either be sold, gifted to other characters, or eaten to regain HP after a dangerous trip in the mines. Like real-life cooking, cooking in Stardew Valley can be exciting as you combine seasonal ingredients to create vastly different meals across all four of the in-game seasons. If you’re a fan of the in-game cooking, the official Stardew Valley Cookbook may be for you – and it’s available for pre-order.

The Official Stardew Valley Cookbook Is On Pre-Order

I would like to announce the upcoming Stardew Valley Cookbook! It'll be out next spring, and includes 50 recipes from the game… such as pink cake, salad, and the strange bun. Cover illustration by @kee_fry pic.twitter.com/ydEtGzqo6G

Written by Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe and Ryan Novak, the official Stardew Valley cookbook contains 50 recipes inspired by various in-game meals like the Complete Breakfast, Farmer’s Lunch, and Pink Cake, among others.

According to the official description, the cookbook recipes all focus on seasonal ingredients, just like in the game, encouraging readers to “cook [their] way through the seasons!” Unfortunately, not all of the in-game ingredients made the cut, and it’s unlikely that we’ll see anything with a Void Egg in it. Still, it would be interesting to see what made it into the official Stardew Valley cookbook.

Some other examples included in the cookbook include:

  • In Spring, enjoy a delicious Complete Breakfast made with fresh early spring rhubarb, followed by a filling Farmer’s Lunch.
  • In Summer, snack on tasty Crab Cakes and, as a dessert, the almost unanimously adored Pink Cake.
  • In Fall, cozy up with some Pumpkin Soup and the Survival Burger.
  • In Winter, warm up with the seasonal Roots Platter, Seafoam Pudding, or the ever-odd Strange Bun!

The official Stardew Valley cookbook is currently available for pre-order with an expected release date of May 14th, 2024. It’s currently available in hardcover and e-book varieties through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Penguin Random House. Prices range from $14 to $28, varying by edition. More information on the cookbook’s release will likely be shared as the release date grows closer.
