This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

There are a variety of different things that you can accomplish by using outposts in Starfield. One of these is Animal Husbandry, which essentially means the concept of raising animals for the concept of their byproducts like milk or eggs. In the case of Starfield, these byproducts include toxins, sealants, and more. Considering that, we wrote out how to get the Animal Husbandry and how to use it in Starfield.

To really take advantage of this outpost feature, you will first need to meet the following requirements:

  • Find a planet that has a wide variety of different creatures on it.
  • Have one skill point in Zoology, one skill point in Botany, and one skill point in Outpost Engineering.
  • Scan the creatures on the planet you chose, and ensure that the ones that you plan to take byproducts from have the Outpost Production Allowed feature in their scan information.
  • Scan the entire planet and ensure that all of the flora and fauna have been scanned and that the planet is 100% scanned.
  • Gather the following materials to create your facility:
    • One Greenhouse.
    • One Animal Husbandry Facility.
    • Any necessary Power Sources.
    • One Solid Strange Container.
    • Water Extractors.

How To Set Up An Animal Husbandry Facility

To actually set up an Animal Husbandry facility, you will need to have power, fiber, and water. To do this, follow the following instructions as closely as possible:

  • Place two Water Extractors, one Animal Husbandry Facility, one Greenhouse, one Solid Storage Container, and the amount of Power Sources that you feel are necessary to run everything.
  • Use the Create Outpost Link to connect one of the Water Extractors to the Greenhouse.
  • Use the Create Outpost Link to connect the Greenhouse to the Solid Storage Container.
  • Use the Create Outpost Link to connect the second Water Extractor to the Animal Husbandry Facility.
  • Use the Create Outpost Link to connect the Solid Storage Container to the Animal Husbandry Facility.
  • Use the interactive console by the Greenhouse’s entrance to select a creature on that planet that creates Fiber.

How To Use Animal Husbandry

Once everything above has been done, actually using the Animal Husbandry Facility is actually pretty easy. The Fiber that will start being created will automatically transfer to the Storage Container connected to the Animal Husbandry Facility that has the Water Extractor helping power it.

The Animal Husbandry Facility should be up and working after this, so you will just need to come by the interactive console in front of the Animal Husnadry Facility to choose which specific byproducts from which specific creature it specializes in. At that point, you can come by every once in a while to reap the rewards of your work.
