PlayStation has officially released a TV spot ahead of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The highly-anticipated sequel to Insomniac’s first Spider-Man game is about two weeks away from launch. Between the precedent set by the first game and the hype that’s been generated in anticipation of the new release, it’s safe to say that a high bar has been set for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and this latest marketing push proudly carries that trend. The newest trailer features both Peter Parker and Miles Morales taking on Venom and offers a peek at their personal arcs, with everything centering around one message: “Be Better, Together.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 TV Spot Features Both Spider-Men vs. Venom

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is shaping up to be PlayStation‘s biggest release of the year, which is a big feat for a year that also saw the releases of Final Fantasy XVI, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. The Spider-Man games, in general, are one of PlayStation’s biggest exclusives, up there with the God of War games in terms of popularity.

The newest trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 shows both Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, battling Venom, who by all accounts will be the game’s main villain. The footage takes the time to highlight some of the game’s new features, such as Peter’s wingsuit and, for those who didn’t play Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Miles’s venom punch.

However, the trailer isn’t all flashy battles in the streets of New York; it also takes the time to give audiences a taste of Peter and Miles’s story arcs, touching on topics like the state of Peter’s family after the first game and how Miles deals with the death of his father, Jefferson Davis. The arcs add a somber tone to the trailer, which was compiled for marketing purposes and, importantly, was not made of actual gameplay footage.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released for the PlayStation 5 on October 20th.
