In patch 12, the developers of Sons of the Forest added some fixes but also many new features, like the mining pickaxe and the cave where you can find it. Before this patch, players only had the axe as a tool, which is excellent against trees and mutants but useless for mining ore. In this update, the devs also added solafite ore to upgrade some tools, which you can only obtain with the mining pickaxe.
Sons of the Forest: Mining Pickaxe Location
To get this tool, players must have advanced a bit in the game because they will need to prepare to fight some enemies along the way. So, a light source, food, and weapons will be necessary. You must also first find the Rebreather, which is in a beach cave in the northeast of the map. This is because the mining pickaxe is inside a cave where you must dive a long way to find this tool.
How to Get the Mining Pickaxe?
To find the Pickaxe in Sons of the Forest, you must follow these steps:
- The new cave is in the northeast of the island, near a small lake with an appendix to a smaller lake.
- You will find a base of rocks, and on it is a tiny hole to enter.
- Follow the path until you find the subway waterfall, and follow the direction of the water.
- There will be another waterfall with a big fall; go down there to the deepest part and start to dive.
- Follow the path as you swim and dive. It will be a long way down until you find another exit to the surface.
- Walk towards the rocks that look too square. Past the rocks is a passage like a rectangular stone door, and go to the opposite side.
- Keep walking. Eventually, you will arrive at another fall to an area with more water.
- Dive to the bottom and follow the path. You will find two separate ways: go to the right one until you can return to the surface.
- You can climb up some rocks where there is some kind of fence or wooden debris. On the other side of the wood, there is another water tunnel that you must dive through.
- Continue until you find where you can come up for some air; three bodies will be hanging.
- Go left until you see a small orange stairs next to the solafite ore. There, you will find the mining pickaxe.
Once you get the mining pickaxe in Sons of the Forest, use the time you have in the cave to take solafite with you. This mineral is abundant in this location, and as we mentioned, it is helpful to create the solafite variants of some tool upgrades.
