Sons of the Forest takes you on a wild ride through horror-filled twists and turns. Here’s all caves in Sons of the Forest, where deadly mutants lurk in every shadow. But fear not; we are your trusty guide and mutant-slaying companion to lead you through the treacherous caves and bunkers that await.
Caves in Sons of the Forest: First few survivor steps
First, we have the Rebreather Cave, accessible if you crash on the beach or walk to the northern coast marked by the large river mouth. Make sure to bring grenades to handle the many Fingers and Blind Mutants found here.
Next, we have the Rope Gun Cave next to the forest helicopter crash site. This is the second cave you should visit, as you’ll need the Rope Gun to retrieve the Shovel from the next cave. But, again, don’t be cowardly and run past the hard-hitting Fingers, grim Twins, and many Blind Mutants that will eat away at your supplies.
You will need the Rebreather and Rope Gun to complete the Shovel Cave. Before you enter the caves in Sons of the Forest, pick up the Slingshot from the middle soldier before you shoot yourself along the zipline scale down the rocky ledge to find an air tank for your Rebreather. You will have to dive down into the cave to get to the next area of the cave, and make sure to bring enough air and medical supplies to handle the Blind Mutants.
Now that you have the Shovel explore the creepy bunkers of the island, starting with Maintenance Bunker A, which should be your first stop to acquire the Maintenance Keycard to explore the Food and Dining Bunker. Bring plenty of medical supplies and ammo to this caves in Sons of the Forest for the most extended subterranean adventure you’ll go on. You should have a complete Tech Armor or even Bone Armor set if you can’t afford the resources.
Maintenance Bunker B is almost identical to the last Maintenance Bunker A. Still, you will find the Compound Bow and the Silencer for the 9mm Pistol. Beware that the Silencer attachment lowers the pistol’s damage. If you’re shooting at a mutant or cannibal, you’ve most likely angered the mutant gang.
Visit the Guest Keycard bunker to access the 3D Printer, and if you were to explore to the very end of the bunker, you would have be met with a locked door. You should have acquired the Maintenance Keycard from Maintenance Bunker A by now. I recommend bringing your Shotgun, explosives, and any other weapons you have found, as there are plenty of mutants to kill in this area.
Caves in Sons of the Forest: Expert Edition
Maintenance Bunker C is relatively barren, so it should not take long to find, and you can get the most powerful handgun in the game from here. The Residential bunker is the final bunker before the penultimate cave, which promises an escape from the hellish Site B island. You’ll struggle in the tight mutant-infested corridors of this bunker, so make sure you’re well-equipped.
Finally, the Puffton Bunker is located east and north of the giant lake, and you’ll know you are close when you see golf carts and helipads on the beach. Make sure you have enough equipment, as these camps are very dangerous. The Final Bunker starts with only one way through to a junction of corridors, and I suggest turning right first… but I won’t spoil the rest for you.
