Netflix continues to find success in animation. The streamer has renewed Castlevania: Nocturne for season 2, as announced in a post on its social media accounts (seen below). The news comes about a week after the debut season drop on the streaming service.
The series takes place 300 years after the original Netflix animated series. Set during the French Revolution, vampire hunter Richter Belmont (Edward Bluemel) is out on the hunt and protects his family’s legacy.
Netflix Renewed Castlevania: Nocturne for Season 2 After a Week
The series was created by Clive Bradley (Trapped), who serves as co-showrunner, with Kevin Kolde, who was the co-showrunner of the original series. The co-showrunners executive produce with Adi Shankar, Fred Bseibert, and Brad Graeber. They will continue their roles alongside directors Sam and Adam Deats, who both worked on Castlevania.
Nothing is confirmed as to who will return for season 2 of Castlevania: Nocturne. The debut season starred Bluemel, Thuso Mbedu (The Woman King), Pixie Davies (Mary Poppins Returns), Richard Dormer (Game of Thrones), Nastassja Kinski (Dark Satellites), Zahn McClarnon (Reservation Dogs), Aaron Neil (Paddington 2), Elarica Johnson (P-Valley), and Sydney James Harcourt (Hamilton).
The first season was met with positive critic reviews as it stands at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. A chunk of the audience review bombed it, tanking its score to 45%. Many complained of it being “woke,” as the cast is more diverse than the original series.
While some wanted to drive a stake through its heart, fans can expect more adventures with Richter Belmont due to its stellar performance as views are what drive decisions, like having Castlevania: Nocturne move on to season 2. It is in Netflix’s top ten with 2.6 million views and 9.8 million hours watched.
No date has been listed for season 2 of Castlevania: Nocturne, but all of season 1 is available on Netflix. All four seasons of Castlevania are also available on Netflix.
