Steamย Next Fest just arrived and is offering a ton of demos for some of the most exciting new games coming in the near future. There are so many choices for PC gamers interested in seeing what the hottest new stuff is that what to start with may seem a bit overwhelming, but there are some hugeย Steam Next Festย demos that should definitely be at the front of most people’s queues.

Ghostrunner 2

One More Level’s 2020 Action-Parkour surprise hit is already getting its sequel. The demo makes it seem likeย Ghostrunner 2ย is definitely doing everythingย right, upping the ante and cranking up the speed and intensity of the game with every mechanic tweak and new feature added. Fans of the originalย Ghostrunnerย should definitely play this demo to get even more hyped about what’s coming. Gamers who never played the original should try this demo just to see what they’ve been missing.

Ghostrunner 2ย is launching on October 26th, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Robocop: Rogue City

The idea of a Robocop video game seems silly to some, but Teyon certainly doesn’t seem like they’re playing around with this Robocop: Rogue City demo. The game offers some satisfying first-person shooting as the cybernetic officer alongside an RPG-like skill tree system that seems like it’s going to have a great effect on both the combat and the story of the game. Teyon has a history of solid film-adaptation video games, having developed Terminator: Resistance back in 2019. It certainly seems as though Robocop: Rogue City could be a highlight of the games releasing this holiday season.

Robocop: Rogue City is launching on November 2nd for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Last Train Home

The historical strategy game Last Train Home has a very exciting demo available for Steam Next Fest. This game will likely be an essential release this year for any gamer who’s into strategy or war video games based on real-life historical events. Last Train Home covers a particularly cinematic story about a group of Czechoslovakian soldiers trapped deep within enemy territory trying to return to their newly independent nation at the end of World War 1. It definitely seems like a game that will constantly keep the player on their toes, trying to manage resources, manpower, and strategic maneuvering in the best way possible to keep everyone alive. If Ashborne Games can stick the landing on this fascinating true story by doing the most with its wildest elements and giving it a satisfying gameplay loop, Last Train Home could be a surprise hit.

Last Train Home launches November 28th for PC.

The Thaumaturge

This supernatural turn-based RPG is set to be the next major release from the Polish studio that’s currently working on The Witcher remake, Fool’s Theory. The Thaumaturge is potentially set up to be one of the most unique releases of the year, combining so many strange elements that make it seem incomparable to anything else out there. It simultaneously seems like it takes influence from modern JRPGs like Persona 5 and the narrative storytelling of something like Disco Elysium. Combine those things with a magical Polish protagonist who can harness the power of horrifying, otherworldly creatures, and The Thaumaturge is already one of the most unique demos available at Steam Next Fest.

The Thaumaturge is launching on December 5th for PC.

Enshrouded

The new game from Portal Knights developer Keen Games is sure to delight the survival-crafting inclined gamers out there. The mechanics definitely don’t seem like anything groundbreaking for anyone who’s played Valheim, Sons of the Forest, or Rust before. Still, for the players who can’t get enough of this type of game, that likely won’t be a problem. The setting appears similar to Valheim, with more of an emphasis on medieval fantasy elements. If the game can throw in some interesting Dungeons & Dragons-like monsters and maybe some larger story thread to follow, then it’s very likely that Enshrouded will be a standout title in this genre when the game releases.

Enshrouded has no set release date just yet but is supposed to be launching for both PC and consoles.
