THQ Nordic recently released the story trailer for its upcoming World War 1 Strategy game, Last Train Home. The game is being published by THQ Nordic and developed by the new studio Ashborne Games.

This year is shaping up to be a good one for the strategy gaming community. Recent major announcements like the upcoming Persona 5 Tactica combined with promising new names like Last Train Home are making the genre feel like it’s in a great place. THQ Nordic’s recently released story trailer for its upcoming title adds that much more excitement to the proceedings, with an intense premise grounded in real historical events.

The Story of Last Train Home

Last Train Home | Story Trailer

Last Train Home is a game about the struggles of the Czechoslovak Legion and its members trying to return to their newly independent homeland at the tail-end of World War 1. Due to the complex nature of diplomatic relationships in World War 1, the Legion find themselves stranded in Russia with enemies on all sides, traveling east by train to try and secure safe ship travel back to Western Europe.

In a press release about Last Train Home, it’s stated that the development team went to great lengths to ensure historical accuracy in specific details, even working with the Czechoslovak Legionary community to build the in-game train based on a real-life replica of the actual train utilized by the Legion through its Trans-Siberian battles. It seems like it could be an ideal game for both strategy game enthusiasts and any gamers passionate about lesser-known events from World War 1. There have been so many different games covering both World Wars throughout the years, but few have ever captured the stories of some of the smaller nations in their struggles for recognition and independence like Last Train Home is promising to do.

Last Train Home has no set release date yet, but the trailer says it will be arriving on PC soon.
