Pokemon GO rolled out its latest feature on October 17, letting players link up directly with friends. Dubbed Party Play, you and up to three other friends can finally appear in each other’s games via avatar. There are numerous challenges to collaborate on. In Pokemon GO Party Play, you can dive into the Welcome Party that sees you finish different Special Research tasks and challenges for rewards. You have plenty of time to complete these, but we’ll guide you through so you know what to prepare for.
How To Join a Party in Pokemon Go
Party Play is a new addition to the game where you can start or join a party of four with nearby friends or other players. You all collaborate to complete a series of party challenges in Pokemon GO. For instance, you may have to use a certain amount of Berries to catch Pokemon.
You can’t dive into the Welcome Party in Pokemon GO without being, at minimum, Level 15. Also, for a child’s Niantic account, a parent or guardian must log into the parent portal and grant you permission to access Party Play. For adults, follow the steps below:
- Visit the parent portal at parents.nianticlabs.com
- Enter the email associated with the account to get the login link
- Select the profile you want to change and scroll down to “Review”
- Under “Permissions,” check the box for “Party Play”
All Welcome Party Research Tasks & Rewards in Pokemon GO
The Welcome Party is a new Special Research story in Pokemon GO. As it’s a Special Research task, there’s no time limit. Once you start, you can finish at your leisure.
There are four parts in all. Since you complete them as a team, you can zoom by these challenges before you know it. In the table below, we’ll break down each of the four Welcome Party pages and what Pokemon GO rewards you can expect from them:
Welcome Party Page | Task | Reward |
---|---|---|
One | Complete 10 Party Challenges (Chansey Encounter) Catch 10 Normal-type Pokemon while in a Party (x2000 XP) | x2000 Stardust Eevee Encounter Eevee T-shirt |
Two | Complete 30 Party Challenges (Lapras Encounter) Catch 15 Water-type Pokemon while in a Party (x3000 XP) | x3000 Stardust Vaporeon Encounter Vaporeon T-shirt |
Three | Complete 30 Party Challenges (Alolan Raichu Encounter) Catch 15 Electric-type Pokemon while in a Party (x3000 XP) | x3000 Stardust Jolteon Encounter Jolteon T-shirt |
Four | Complete 30 Party Challenges (Alolan Marowak) Catch 15 Fire-type Pokemon while in a Party (x3000 XP) | x3000 Stardust Flareon Encounter Flareon T-shirt |
As we mentioned before, party challenges vary. Some are based around battles, while others task you to make a specific number of Excellent throws. You only complete one challenge at a time. If you start the party, you decide which challenge to tackle. Seeing the rewards, more so the encounters, makes the Pokemon GO Welcome Party worth the wait.
Pokemon GO is available for iOS and Android.
