September 17th is officially Batman Day, finally giving us a day to celebrate the dark knight and everything he stands for.

Batman never fails to thrill.
Batman never fails to thrill.

2016 marks the 77th year that the caped crusader has been gliding through media, tackling everything from comics to movies to video games. He’s been played by many talented actors on the big screen including Adam West, Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, and, most recently, Ben Affleck. And Kevin Conroy brought his steely vocals to the animated version of Bruce Wayne and his cowled alter ego.

Affleck made his first appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, portraying an older, more skilled Batman as he adapts to otherworldly beings appearing in his previously grounded world. He’ll show up next in Justice League next year before getting his own solo movie sometime in the near future.

Batman
One of the best comic book films ever created.

He has also starred in plenty of games over the past couple decades, his best appearances being his most recent in the Arkham games. These titles mixed stellar combat, intense stealth, and truly made players feel like the Batman. And a remaster of the first two games is releasing for Xbox One and PS4 on October 18, 2016.

The comics also continue the Dark Knight’s adventures each and every month. Not only is he battling a new type of Two-Face in All Stat Batman, but the newly launched DC Rebirth has thrust him into plenty of new situations.

Another classic interpretation of Batman.
Another classic interpretation of the Dark Knight.

There will be no lack of Batman in the next couple of years. The character has endured this long due to his amazing gallery of rogues and the dark style he brings to the often lighthearted DC universe. And we have no doubt that he will continue to remain an integral part of pop culture for another 77 years.
