Magic: The Gathering Is Bringing Marvel Into Its Universes Beyond Brand

After Marvel Snap, now we will get some Magic cards from Marvel to scratch that real tabletop itch.

We’ve had plenty of different Marvel cards in days gone by, from physical to virtual in Marvel Snap. But now we are getting something new: Hasbro and Marvel are collaborating for a massive crossover to make cards for the Magic: The Gathering sub-brand, Universes Beyond. No cards were announced, but the first set will be released sometime in 2025.

The collaboration will be a “multi-year, multi-set” deal. Not many details are known about what is being planned for Magic collectors. Rather vaguely, it will include “collectible products and tentpole sets.” We will see “fan-favorite characters and epic stories” from the long history of Marvel comics.

Magic: The Gathering Announces New Universes Beyond Crossover With Marvel

The announcement is a part of a few years of the card game having surprising crossovers with big IP from video games, movies, and TV shows. Starting in 2020, we have seen The Walking Dead, Evil Dead, Stranger Things, Fortnite, and other collaborations. Between 2024 and 2025, we will have Assassin’s Creed and Final Fantasy.

Marvel has been continuously expanding in new areas beyond Magic: The Gathering. Disneyland has a corner dedicated to Marvel, which features locations and characters seen from the comics and movies. Through Marvel Games, the company has had a publisher to work with various video game studios to make games based on its characters, like Insomniac’s Spider-Man games and the popular card game Marvel Snap. Meanwhile, the MCU has gone to TV since 2021’s WandaVision on Disney Plus and is currently airing Loki season 2.

Magic is currently setting up its next major set, The Lost Caverns of Ixalan, for November 17. On October 24, we will get some more news from the Wizards of the Coast WeeklyMTG livestream. Some of that news will include a preview of the upcoming set. Nothing will be shown for the Marvel crossover with Magic: The Gathering.
