Barry Wheeler, esteemed friend and literary agent of Alan Wake, made his debut appearance in the first game in Remedy Entertainment’s universe,ย Alan Wake. Not only was Barry the first person that Alan reached out to when everything began happening to him at Bright Falls, but he was also the last person to see him when he left to find Alice. He is arguably just as important as Alan Wake himself. Considering that, are the puffy red jacket and congested airways of Barry Wheeler inย Alan Wake 2?
Unfortunately, you shouldn’t expect to see Barry at all in Alan Wake 2. The game has a major story focus on Saga Anderson, an FBI agent who works alongside Alex Casey, a different agent who happens to share the same name as Alan Wake’s titular book character. Much has changed in the thirteen years that have passed since Alan was last seen in 2010, the same year that the previous installment released.
As a result, much must have happened to Barry, as it seems that he has moved on to other things, having left Alan behind. It might have been for the best, considering that Barry would definitely not be able to withstand all of the things happening to Alan now. On the other hand, maybe he would have been able to help Saga figure things out faster with firsthand knowledge of how Alan is as a person.
Regardless, he isn’t at all in the game. His puffy red jacket would have been noticeable from any distance, and Alan doesn’t really seem to have minded his absence.
