The news of Matthew Perry‘s death left a bitter taste in the mouths of millions worldwide. Perry died over the weekend in what was believed to be an apparent drowning. After the tragic news came to light, fans and stars from the entertainment industry took to social media to pay tribute to the late icon. However, the opposite was the case for comedian Kevin Brennan. Instead of paying his last respects to Perry, Brennan insensitively mocked the actor’s death. As expected, fans didn’t take Brennan’s words lightly and publicly criticized the former Saturday Night Live writer.
Kevin Brennan Mocks Matthew Perry’s Death
On Saturday, the internet went into a frenzy after the news of Matthew Perry’s death came to light. According to reports, the authorities responded to a 911 call at about 4 p.m. that day. Upon arrival at Perry’s home in Los Angeles, the officers found the actor dead in his hot tub. In the wake of Perry’s demise, comedian Kevin Brennan took to Twitter to comment on the tragedy. However, rather than pay tribute, the podcast host made fun of the Friends star’s death. Brennan tweeted a link to TMZ’s coverage of the icon’s demise and captioned it:
“DROWNED IN A HOT TUB HAHAHAHA.”
The former writer didn’t stop there. He replied to TMZ’s coverage of his insensitive comments, which had the headline, “Ex-SNL Writer-Comedian Kevin Brennan Mocks Matthew Perry’s Death.” In his response, Brennan noted that he didn’t mock the actor’s death. Rather, he just thought the way Perry died was funny. Brennan also added:
“But I do love it when junkies die.”
Fans Slam Brennan for His Insensitivity
Although Brennan’s tweets had few replies, given his small followership, they appalled the few who commented. The Twitter users called Brennan out and slammed him for making fun of Matthew Perry’s death. One tweep shared:
“What the hell is wrong with you? You’re a pathetic little loser of a man.”
A second fan wrote that many mourned Perry because he brought smiles to people, but no one would say the same about Brennan when his time comes. A third tweep shared:
“This pathetic longing for attention has never looked so disgusting.”
A fourth user relayed:
“No one will even notice you when you leave this world.”
Other tweeps asked fellow users to mourn the death of Brennan’s career. In conclusion, public figures need to think carefully about the impact of their words. Hopefully, Matthew Perry’s soul rest in peace.
