This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Between the gang members, rogue cops, and two-faced politicians, Old Detroit has more than its share of problems. RoboCop can only do so much, even with his cybernetics and high-tech weaponry. Not even the firepower of the almighty Auto 9 can solve everything, after all. Throughout Rogue City, RoboCop will need to rely on a diverse set of skills to complete investigations and take down criminals. Teyon has a good eye for skills in this action RPG, and each of these buffs can substantially impact your playstyle. Though the developer gives players some great choices, some are better than others. Here are the best skills in RoboCop: Rogue City, ranked from good to indispensable.

5. Engineering

Engineering is a somewhat strange skill that offers several perks, none of which have much to do with one another. Despite their scattered feel, each perk of the Engineering skill is useful. The chip bonus makes your Auto 9 better at everything it does, and Cracking allows you to reprogram turrets and open safes without knowing the combo. Best of all is Dash, an ability that lets you quickly dart out of damage or into melee range for a powerful punch. Whether RoboCop is using it to dodge sniper fire or take down a gang member, Dash alone makes Engineering one of the best skills in Rogue City.

4. Scanning

Honestly, the extended investigation vision range offered by Scanning is pretty useless. Crime scenes are of trivial difficulty regardless of your distance from clues. That said, the other perks of the Scanning skill more than make up for that lackluster bonus. Ricochet allows you to bounce bullets off of walls to hit enemies behind cover, which is fun as well as useful. Ricochet Split makes that ability even more impactful by increasing the number of enemies you can hit. Arguably, the best part of Scanning, however, is Instant Scanner. It allows you to instantly mark all enemies when using RoboCop Vision. This gives you the edge in battles that pit you against a dozen or more enemies at once.

3. Deduction

Even if the only thing it offered was Enhanced Learning, Deduction would still be one of the best skills in RoboCop: Rogue City. This perk increases all experience point gains by 30%, greatly increasing the number of skill points you acquire during your time in Old Detroit. Deduction is a more niche but similarly useful buff to Note EXP, while Enhanced Scanning reveals useful info such as safe combinations. Last is Enhanced Map, which marks the locations of valuable items or data for you. Deduction is the best way to increase your overall capability in the game by making sure you always have the resources to succeed.

2. Armor

Armor is a straightforward skill, which is part of its appeal. Increasing your damage reduction by 5% per level is arguably one of the best skill buffs in the game, letting you power through long levels full of devastating firefights, even if you take more hits than you should. Shield is also a fantastic power, giving you a deployable barrier that reduces received damage by 80%. Even though it only stays up for a brief window, anything that lets you survive a wall of machine gun fire is fantastic. Armor is arguably the best skill to have on your side when taking on Rogue City‘s bosses as well. Invest in it early and often.

1. Focus

Focus is, without question, the best skill in RoboCop: Rogue City. Whether you’re playing on the easiest difficulty or the hardest, slowing time to a crawl works as well here as it did in Starfield. When this skill is maxed out, you’ll be increasing Slow Motion’s duration with every kill. Enhanced Critical Damage doubles your crits, which is a huge buff to DPS. Using Slow Motion offensively is the obvious use, but this power can also be used defensively. Dip into the power long enough to step safely from cover, take a shot, and then step back. It’s a slow and safe strategy that makes even the toughest fights in the game far easier. If you don’t care about the EXP bonuses from Deduction, Focus should be your first pick in Rogue City.
