It was nearly two years ago, after the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, when the Verdansk Warzone map was removed from the game. The new Caldera map came along, and since then, we have been waiting to play Warzone in the fan-favorite Verdansk again. Now, this may not happen due to the map being nuked by the end of MW 2019. But we see the Verdansk map return in various missions in the MW3 – Modern Warfare 3 campaign mode.
Is Verdansk Playable In Modern Warfare 3?
Yes, Verdansk is featured in three different missions in the Modern Warfare 3 campaign:
- Deep Cover
- Flashpoint
- Gora Dam
Although we can not play Verdansk as a big open-world map in MW3, you get to play in three different parts of it. First, there’s the Deep Cover mission, where you play as the CIA agent Kate Laswell. This operation is in a Kastovian military base, and you meet a familiar face from the OG MW3 game, Yuri. This proves that after the nuke, Verdansk is habitable again, and people are living there.
The Gora Dam mission proves this fact as well. This operation also occurs in Verdansk in Modern Warfare 3, where you go to the exact location of the Dam from the original Warzone map. This is an open combat mission, so you get to look around in the new Verdansk recreation, which looks pretty much like how it did back in Warzone 1.
However, if you like to see Verdansk the way it was, the Flashpoint MW3 mission is your target. This is a flashback episode that takes place four years prior to the events of Modern Warfare 3. Task Force 141 is sent to capture Vladimir Makarov, and you deploy in the Verdansk Stadium location on the map.
Now, with seeing Verdansk back in shape with new people in it, one might assume that this map is going to make a return in the upcoming MW3 Seasons. There is no official info on this regard, however, so take Verdansk’s return to Warzone with a huge grain of salt, at least for now.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is currently available to play.
