The latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally here with the release of The Marvels. Set to release on November 10, 2023, the sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel was directed by Nia DiCosta (Candyman). Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) is joined by Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), as their powers become entangled to the point where once activated, they switch places. Because it’s a Marvel movie you might be wondering if The Marvels has a post-credits scene. So, let’s go through what happens after the credits begin to roll.
Does The Marvels Contain a Post-Credits Scene?
The Marvels is the shortest movie in the MCU, so you shouldn’t be pressed to run off to the bathroom right when the movie ends. But in case you do have somewhere to go, don’t be too quick as The Marvels does have a post-credits scene. It only has one full post-credits scene, one that occurs right after the stylized credits for the main cast. There is a small extra stinger right at the end of the credits if you want to stick around, but it’s not a scene.
From here on out we will be going into full spoiler territory, in case you want to know what you might be missing if you leave before the credits roll. So, warning, the rest of this article will have full spoilers for the end of The Marvels and the post-credits scene.
The Marvels End-Credits Scenes Explained
At the end of the film Monica goes through a rip in the multiverse, and she ends up stuck in another reality. She wakes up in what seems like a hospital room, with her mother Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) next to her. Monica freaks out at seeing her mother – who is dead in her universe – even though Maria has no idea who she is. The real shock value kicks in when the doctor examining her is revealed to be the furry blue scientist himself, Dr. Hank McCoy aka Beast, a member of the X-Men.
Beast is played by Kelsey Grammer, who played him in X-Men: The Last Stand. He’s only in the scene for a few lines in which he name-drops Charles Xavier, and the set is revealed to look like the basement of the X-Mansion. Maria then stands up to reveal her own superhero outfit, asking who Monica is before the scene ends. The suit is different from what she wore in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Therefore, it’s unknown what universe she’s in or even what superhero Maria is. Beast does refer to Binary finding Monica, so she could be Binary.
If you stick around until the end of the credits, you will hear the distinctive sounds of a Flerken, most likely consuming or coughing something back up. What did you think of The Marvels post-credits scene? This isn’t the first time an X-Men has been seen in the MCU, and it won’t be the last either. The next movie slated for release is Deadpool 3 which is going to feature Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine at the very least. You can catch The Marvels in theaters from November 10, 2023.
