This week, in Bungie’s TWID blog post, we learned about an old Destiny Exotic Rocket Launcher that will soon be returning to Destiny 2, but better (hotter) than ever. With new Intrinsics and a whole new Exotic Catalyst, this rocket launcher will blow the minds of anyone who uses it. The Dragon’s Breath Exotic Rocket Launcher has been “reimagined to sow mayhem around it,” as Bungie states. Will this weapon be a total bust, like the Trespasser was, or will it live up to the hype surrounding the new twists that it brings to the table this time around. Let’s theorize!

Dragon’s Breath Has Some Great Improvements

The reimagined Dragon’s Breath Exotic Rocket Launcher will feature some fierce Exotic Intrinsics and an amazing Exotic Catalyst to go with them. With features that increase your fuel counter before transferring it into the rocket, cause impressive Scorch damage, instant fuel filling and reloading, and even spawning Firesprites for Solar 3.0 mayhem and synergy.

Bungie announced that it will have the Pyromancer Exotic Catalyst, the High Octane, and Burn the World Exotic Intrinsics. While each of these perks makes the weapon have a much higher reload speed, damage output and quite a lot more synergy with Solar 3.0, Dragon’s Breath was quite a bit different in the past.

Can Dragon’s Breath Hold Up To It’s Expectations?

Dragon’s Breath was first introduced into Destiny in The Dark Below. While the weapon had some potential, it really wasn’t a well-liked weapon. Though, when The Taken King dropped, the Rocket Launcher was buffed, but it still wasn’t all that great outside of how it looked. With plenty of other Exotic Rocker Launchers to compete with, the weapon became known more for its looks, rather than its potential in a battle. Though, I have to admit, Dragon’s Breath really does have a unique look to it, especially with the bright appearance of the Tigershark Ornament.

Back in Destiny, the Dragon’s Breath Exotic Rocket Launcher was a weapon that most people didn’t want much to do with. Given the perks that the weapon had to begin with, it didn’t work well with many builds or class abilities, and its “exotic” appeal was lackluster. Even year 2 Dragon’s Breath made some improvements, but they weren’t quite enough. With perks like Surplus and Speed Reload, it still can’t compare to the new changes that Bungie has promised with the return of Dragon’s Breath to Destiny 2.

When Dragon’s Breath comes back to Destiny 2 with the beginning of the Season of the Wish, we’ve got some high expectations, and if those expectations aren’t met, Bungie could have a problem on their hands. With all the disappointment between layoffs or potential delays, more bad news wouldn’t be much of a surprise, right? We sure hope not this time around. Dragon’s Breath has the potential to blow our minds and blow the enemies away while it’s at it. I just hope Bungie can live up to the expectations they’re delivering. We will find out when Season of the Wish launches November 28.

Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
