This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

The entirety of Lethal Company relies on playing online with friends. If you aren’t playing online with your friends, then you’ll be playing online with a stranger. It’s also playable solo if you really know what you’re doing. However, for the most part, you’re going to be playing with your friends and discovering matchmaking features that really get the game going. To do all of that, you need to know if Lethal Company has matchmaking at all. We explain that and the multiplayer below.

Unfortunately, Lethal Company does not have matchmaking in the multiplayer. You aren’t able to join a game via an in-game system. Instead, you have to start one up on your own. This means that instead of joining a lobby with a ton of other players, you choose from a list of other servers. Just locate one that has extra slots for players and choose to join it.

In order to host a server, you need to create your own game. You’re free to make this public or private so that your friends can join instead of random strangers. We recommend that since more and more players are discovering the game, just join the very first server that you see before it closes up. Of course, this is if you don’t really care that you’re going to be playing with random people.

The alternative is ensuring that you have friends who want to play whenever you do. That isn’t nearly as likely as being able to join someone’s server and hoping to make a friend who can play with you whenever your other friends can’t. To recap, the Lethal Company multiplayer does not have a matchmaking aspect.
