Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – MW3 Zombies features many easter eggs and hidden details for players to discover. One of which is a secret treasure location that gives you the slightest clues on how to open its vault doors. The secret vault in MWZ – MW3 Zombies has many rare items and good loot to farm in every match, and opening it requires effort to take down four enemy bosses. But before unlocking the vault in MW3 Zombies, you need to find a chessboard mystery solution to proceed.

If you go to Shahin Manor on the southeast of the Urzikestan map, you’ll find a big house with an entry point you can not miss. Get inside and go left to find a zipline. Descend down to the new room, and you’ll spot the secret vault with a chess board on a table in front of it. Now, this chess and its pieces are all clues for you to find the targets on the map. Let’s solve some mysteries, shall we?

The chess pieces you see on the board each indicate a boss’s location on the map. In fact, if you look at the map and match the chessboard pieces’ locations with it, you’ll easily find the solution to this riddle in MW3 Zombies! These pieces are standing on the exact coordinates that are on the map itself.

  • A: The Rook
  • B: The Bishop
  • C: The Knight
  • D

The image above will help you find the location of all these four targets. The targets A, B, and C are actual mercenary enemies that you must kill. After taking down each one of them, an item will drop, and if you interact with them, you’ll send a signal to H7. After sending each signal, the related chess piece will drop on the board, which means you’re making progress on opening the locked vault in MW3 Zombies mode.

For mark D, however, you’d have to go to the marked location to find a deserted hut. Here, you’ll find the transmitter on an old TV, and then you can interact with it to send the final signal. Now remember, these targets don’t come in a particular regulation. You can go to mark C, kill the enemy, and then go to A as your next option, and it still counts correctly to solve the chess piece mystery.

After you’ve transmitted all the signals, you can then go back to the secret vault in MW3 Zombies – MWZ and open it. Claim your rewards and enjoy looting the place; however, be very careful with the one final boss that appears inside the loot boxes. A powerful mimic will be inside the vault as you open the chests, but if you have C4s and a powerful shotgun, you can cheese this boss for good.
