This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Death Stranding 2 was revealed during The Game Awards last year, and since then, we haven’t gotten any news regarding Kojima’s brainchild. However, according to a leak from one of the veteran artists who is working on the game, Death Stranding 2 will be released in 2025. Video game artists often have a portfolio where they can show off their best work. And Artstation is the place to be for things like that. The portfolio in question reveals that the artist has worked on Death Stranding 2 and that it’s planned for 2025.

If this is the case, we should expect a release date reveal sometime soon. Considering how Death Stranding 1 was revealed and released, Kojima Productions is likely to reveal it a year or more before release to build consumer interest. And since TGA’s Geoff Keighley and Hideo Kojima have worked on reveals together before, the upcoming Game Awards 2023 might be the best place to reveal the release date as well as some gameplay of Death Stranding 2.

Although we can’t be certain when Death Stranding 2 will come out during 2025 since the first game targeted a year-end release, the same could be planned for the sequel. This means that Death Stranding 2 will have been in development for a total of 6 years before it comes out.

The portfolio listing was spotted by a ResetEra user who kept the artist’s identity hidden for obvious reasons. But the leaker did confirm that the artist’s name was actually in the credits of the games he claimed to have worked on.

But we still recommend taking this leak with a grain of salt. Not only could this be a guess on the part of the artist, however unlikely, but it could also be that the release date was later moved around internally.

With that being said, the 2025 release window sounds ideal, even if it is a little late, it should ensure that the shortcomings of the first game are rectified in the second entry. Kojima is also working on some other games that have also been leaked before, let’s hope we get an official reveal instead of more leaks.
