The Sims 4 is coming out with a new expansion pack, and it’s potentially a major game changer – pun intended. Among other things, The Sims 4: For Rent gives players the long-awaited ability to build apartments, as well as build multiple dwellings on one lot. Reports on the new expansion pack also hint at giving players the ability to become a landlord or rent a living space from another Sim. For Rent is going to be hitting the EA store on December 7th, so if you’re interested in getting it for the holidays, here’s everything we know about the latest Sims 4 expansion.
What Is The Sims 4: For Rent?
The Sims 4: For Rent is the fifteenth expansion pack for The Sims 4, continuing EA’s nearly decade-long string of expanding the Sims universe through packs. The new Sims 4 expansion pack with introduce players to the world of Tomarang, a Southeast Asian-inspired Sims neighborhood filled with apartments, townhouses, and other multiple-dwelling plots for your Sim to either rent or rent out. Other features of the new world also include a bustling Night Market and new Community Events like pool parties and barbecues.
To this end, The Sims 4: For Rent will also introduce a new kind of Build Mode lot called Residential Rentals, which allows players to build multi-residential buildings on a single lot. This means that apartments, townhouses, duplexes and similar buildings can be built on any lot in any Sims world, which is a feature Sims fans have been begging for since apartments were introduced with City Living in 2016.
The Sims 4: For Rent Introduces Property Management
Along with expanded gameplay for apartments, The Sims 4: For Rent will be debuting brand new game features regarding property management. The expansion pack will be introducing four new Aspirations, four new personality traits, and a new fear to make this part of the gameplay more immersive.
If you’re the type of player that thrives when earning Simoleons, Sims will be able to become Property Owners that can rent out residential units to other Sims. Whether living among their tenants or renting out separate properties, Property Owners will have to manage tenant ratings, do inspections of their rental units, and fix surprise issues like broken plumbing or mold.
On the flipside, players can now rent their living space from another Sim as well. Tenants will have to keep a careful eye on their wallets, make sure to make rent on time, and keep on their property owner’s good side to keep from being evicted. The Sims 4: For Rent will include a new fear involving a tenant being evicted due to misbehavior, but it’s up to the player whether or not this fear comes true or not.
