We don’t always know when our favorite characters in the MCU will return. Tom Holland is not confirmed to return to the role of Peter Parker for Spider-Man 4, but he is weighing up his options. The actor is currently “engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like” for the next installment. For many actors who feel “protective” over their character, it has to be “worth the while of the character.”
The actor starred in three standalone films and appeared in three more movies with Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. In terms of Marvel appearances, he’s on par with Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen.
Tom Holland on Reprising His Role as Peter Parker for Spider-Man 4
Tom Holland gave insight into what would bring him back for Spider-Man 4 in a conversation with Collider. There are plenty of options for where he can go after everyone’s memory of Peter being the web-slinger was erased at the end of No Way Home. Now, he is truly the Neighborhood Friendly Spider-Man with his new homemade suit that is an improvement from what he made in Homecoming. But it depends if they can do the character “justice” for a seventh appearance in the MCU.
Whether or not we can find a way to do justice to the character is another thing. I feel very protective over Spider-Man. I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.

Many stars in the MCU are A-listers due to their time in spandex fighting genocidal purple aliens. For Tom Holland, he would be a “fool” not to suit up once again for Spider-Man 4. He said that he loved playing the character and how his success beyond the MCU was due to his time in the Jon Watts-directed films and the Avengers crossover events.
But that said, if we can figure that out, I would be a fool not to put the suit back on again because I owe everything to Spider-Man. I love the character and the people I get to work with. So, I would love to tell another story, but I’ll only tell it if we can find the right one.

Looking at the schedule for Marvel Studios movies and shows, the only thing related to the character to release soon is the animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year. The stars of the live-action films will be recast for the series, similar to how What If…? has recast some of the live-action actors for the animated anthology series. No release date is set for Freshman Year.
