Don’t let the name fool you. While the developers call their masterpiece Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, the game has most definitely been charted. And at the top of the charts sits Ovendonkey, with a completion time of three hours and 45 minutes. That’s measured with in-game time, as the loading screens have been cut from the run video for audience convenience. The real-time record is just under four and a half hours. Ovendonkey’s run is also the most recent of those currently on the leaderboards, making it the most up-to-date on the techniques and routes used to go through the game.

Ovendonkey’s Uncharted 4 run is played on Explorer difficulty, the easiest setting, with lock-on aiming enabled. These, needless to say, allow the gameplay to progress quickest. In addition, this run also utilizes glitches like going out of bounds and other time-cutting tricks. Uncharted 4 has little in the way of sequence breaks and skips even with these glitches. It’s not a perfect run by any means, particularly in chapter eleven when the runner makes several mistakes. Despite these, the sub-four hour escapade nets him the gold trophy by almost a 15-minute margin. Too bad about 3:47:00, he cut that out at the worst possible instant. Almost as if it was on purpose.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is, according to Naughty Dog, the final volume in Nathan Drake’s story. Thankfully, the series itself is more likely to continue, not to mention there’s an Uncharted movie back in the works after a directorial juggling act. Each game in the series quickly reached critical acclaim upon release, a trend Naughty Dog has no real reason to cut short. And thanks to the epilogue, there’s plenty of possibilities for the next game in the series, whenever it arrives. Considering Uncharted 4 took five years to follow the previous game, it might be somewhat of a wait.
