Disney Dreamlight Valley may be cute and cozy, but it’s no stranger to trouble. In A Rift in Time, the trouble isn’t magical thorns but Time Anomalies. This expansion brings a ton of exciting content to the game, including a chance to explore Eternity Isle, meet Rapunzel and Gaston, and learn what evil trickery Jafar has been up. There’s never been a better time to jump into Disney Dreamlight Valley, but it might not be obvious how to start A Rift in Time. Whether you’re a beginner or have been playing Gameloft‘s cozy sim since early access, here’s what you need to know.

If you’re starting a fresh save, however, you have a little bit of work ahead of you before you can start A Rift in Time and access Eternity Isle. You need to complete the following four early-game quests before you can check out the new content:

  • The Dream Castle – Merlin
  • Making Cents of Things – Scrooge
  • Fishing Expedition – Goofy
  • Scrooge McDuck’s Grand Re-opening – Scrooge

Completing the last quest will trigger a cutscene involving the appearance of a stone tablet in the Plaza. That leads to an invitation from a hologram of Jafar. The Disney villain will give you some surprising information, after which you must speak with Merlin. Now just complete “The Port of Many Worlds” quest to gain access to A Rift in Time. Now it’s time to make some new friends in Dreamlight Valley.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
