The Prince of Persia franchise was brought back to life with the announcement of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. We know that it’s going to be available on January 18, 2024, but according to a leak from PlayStation Brazil, a playable demo will be coming a week before on January 11. Although the leak itself has been taken down, it was captured and reuploaded by X/Twitter user @BossBigBoss73. The leak is likely a result of a genuine announcement happening during The Game Awards 2023. We’ll be sure to update this with any new information that comes out.

The new video shows some never-before-seen gameplay as well as a look at new in-game sections. Its main focus is on the story and protagonist Sargon’s journey to rescue the kidnapped Prince Ghassan. It’s a whole two minutes long, and before the video ends and shows off the official release date, the announcement for the January 11 demo pops up.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown provides a new story accompanied by new gameplay mechanics and visuals. As opposed to action-adventure gameplay, The Lost Crown adopts a Metroidvania style with 2D visuals. It’s a pivot from what the series has come to be known for, although it’s actually a callback to its roots. At the same time as this, Ubisoft is also hard at work with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown demo and the remake present fans, new and old, with a well-rounded look at what the series is capable of.
