Space Grandma is finally back for Destiny 2‘s holiday event, The Dawning 2023, and I can already smell the cookies baking. If you’ve played during the holiday before, you know there are a few key things that will happen here. First, Vex Milk. Don’t question it. However, to go with that Vex Milk, you’ll need to bake a bunch of cookies for the vendors scattered throughout the planets and even complete the Event Card to get your hands on some Dawning Spirit, which can be used to purchase upgrades.
The Dawning 2023 – How It Works
There are quite a few things you can do during The Dawning in 2023, as well as every other year, each ultimately resulting in a whole bunch of cool gear for your Guardian this year.
Bake All the Cookies
While you make your way through ritual activities, you’ll collect different ingredients from specific enemy types. This can include Ether Cane, Delicious Explosions, and more. Using those ingredients mixed with Essence of Dawning, you can bake cookies using Eva’s Holiday Oven 2.1 that can be found in your quest tab. Each of the cookies is made to be gifted to your friends around the game. Each one rewards you for your delivery.
Upgrades People, Upgrades
In the process of baking cookies and hanging out with Space Grandma, you will inevitably complete challenges on the Event Card for The Dawning 2023. You can do this by delivering your fresh-baked cookies, among other simple tasks in order to obtain Dawning Spirit. Dawning Spirit can be used to purchase upgrades for the event.

- Extra rewards
- Dawning weapons with additional perks
- Better Snowballs
- Weapon Focusing
Snowball Fights
During The Dawning 2023 in Destiny 2, you might notice that Guardians are running around throwing snowballs. It makes sense, given the season, but it’s pretty fun. Whenever an enemy is defeated using weapons or abilities from The Dawning 2023, a Stasis Snowball will spawn. These snowballs can be picked up and used as a weapon. Pretty cool, right?
Memento
This year, Eva Levante is offering up an icy cool Memento for completing a specific quest within the event. The Memento features a chilly-looking ice finish that will make any weapon look frosty and ready for any battle.
New Weapon
This year in The Dawning 2023, Destiny 2 is giving up the opportunity to get our hands on a brand new weapon. This Glaive really is pretty impressive, and has some nice perks, including:
- Deconstruct
- Attrition Orbs
- Cold Steel
- Beacon Rounds
- Dawning Surprise Origin Trait
