Nicki Minaj and Kanye West, who now goes by Ye, are currently in a dispute over their collaborative song New Body. Recall that the rap icons originally recorded the song in 2018 for Ye’s album Yandhi, which was never released. But now, the rapper is trying to include the unreleased song on Vultures, his upcoming album with TY Dolla $ign. Unfortunately, Nicki Minaj isn’t on board with the idea. Recently, the father of four reached out to the Trinidad native, asking for permission to use the track. But sadly, Nicki Minaj snubbed Kanye West and explained her reason later on, sparking a dispute.
Inside Nicki Minaj and Kanye West Song Dispute
Fans have been hoping for the release of Nicki Minaj and Kanye West’s collaborative track, New Body. But sadly, that may never happen. On Monday, the 46-year-old previewed the song at a listening party in Miami for his upcoming album Vultures. Afterward, he texted Nicki Minaj, asking for permission to clear the song on the new project. Taking to X, Ye shared a screenshot of the text, which read:
“Hi it’s ye. May I call you about clearing new body on the new album.”
Unfortunately, there was no response to the text, as Nicki Minaj snubbed Kanye West. Shortly after Ye shared the screenshot, the Princess Diana crooner hopped on her Instagram Live to address the situation. She revealed she was no longer interested in releasing the song.
“That train has left the station. No disrespect in any way. I just put out a brand-new album. Why would I put out a song that has been out for 3 years? Come on guys,” Nicki Minaj shared.
Mixed Reactions Trail Nicki Minaj’s Response
The Grammy Award winner’s revelation quickly sparked a debate among fans when The Shade Room posted her video. On one hand, some users threw support behind Nicki Minaj, who recently released an album.
“I mean I wouldn’t either. Made her change her verse 3 times just for it not to come out. Now 3 years later, you want it out?” a fan wrote.
Another fan with a similar opinion shared:
“Had her rewrite her verse 3 times just not release it. Now this is how you stand on business.”
A third fan relayed:
“Thank you! The disrespect when she’s been asking to clear that song for YEARS!”
A fourth user also commented:
“When ye don’t get what he want he bring it to the internet. She responded well.”
On the other hand, some fans took Ye’s side and criticized Nicki Minaj.
“Now I see why Meek had to bounce. Her energy and attitude is toilet matter how much bread she has,” a fan wrote.
Another commented:
“Nicki whack asf😂 why not just respond via text. He don’t need her. Plenty of other dope artists to sub her with.”
A third Ye supporter shared:
“So she couldn’t just call or text him back? Everything is always for show.”
Another fan with similar thoughts wrote:
“I never understand reading a text and responding on social media.”
In the meantime, fans await a response from Ye.
